Mother’s Day is celebrated all over the world, a chance to treat our moms, recognizing all the things they do for us. Although Mother’s Day is now a global tradition, it actually began in America in the early 20th century and while flowers do the job nicely, it’s high time that moms got some extra special treatment. With Mother’s Day approaching on 11th May, children who don’t want to get into their Moms’ bad books had better not forget it! UK bingo brand, Gala Bingo recently celebrated Mother’s Day in the UK by launching a ‘Supermum’ chat game, celebrating real life superheroes – our moms!
Across the pond, it’s now our turn to celebrate the supermoms of America, so clear your diary for the 11th May and plan something special to treat her. If you are struggling for inspiration, we’ve come up with some fun ideas beyond chocolates and flowers, so you’ve got no excuse not to enjoy a fabulous Mother’s Day:
- A shopping spree – There is one thing that is guaranteed to please any woman and that’s a shopping trip that she doesn’t have to pay for. While it may hurt your bank balance watching your mum splash out on the high street – it’s unlikely to be a treat she’ll ever forget!
- Give your mom a REAL break – One word that is bound to make your mom smile, no matter how awful her day has been, and that word is – spa. Spend some quality time with your mom and take her for a day of relaxation at a luxury spa. There are options to suit all budgets from a one off treatment to a full day of pampering. A massage, manicure, and a glass of bubbly will put you firmly in your mom’s good books.
- Take her out for lunch – Find a nice restaurant to give your mom a rest from cooking up a storm in the kitchen. If you know of her favorite place to eat, treat her to a meal out where she can spend quality time catching up with you and the family.
Whatever you decide to do for your mom, just be sure to show how much you appreciate her. It doesn’t have to cost a fortune; but doing something a little different from the stereotypical ‘flowers and chocolates’ can be a nice surprise and shows that you’ve given your Supermom some extra special thought and attention.
