Your wedding day is the most important day of your life so everything needs to be perfect. The bridesmaid dresses are no exception. Seeing as the whole day is planned to perfection months in advance – including color schemes and dress styles that you’ve been dreaming about since childhood – it can be rather frustrating if you can’t find the right bridesmaid dresses.

However, House of Fraser has a vast range of dresses for special occasions and even has a designated bridesmaids section on the Wedding Boutique area of its website. You can select by color scheme, including pastel, bright, jewel and monochrome, to aid and expedite your search. Here are our favorite picks from each color scheme.

The pastel range includes shades of mint, lavender, ivory and taupe. These soft, elegant colours complement the white or cream wedding dress.

Bridesmaid Dress Style

Our favourite dress from this collection is the Florie Dress from Anoushka G (a personal favorite brand of mine). This long, loosely shaped maxi dress in mint is simple and demure. It if fully lined with a light chiffon overlay and silk bow detailing along the bust line. It is strapless with a slightly emphasised waist creating a romantic silhouette.

Many brides are a little nervous about dressing their bridesmaids in bright, bold colors, but eye-catching shades of pink, red, yellow, turquoise and green actually help to make the wedding dress stand out and add a big blast of color to the day. A bonus for the bridesmaids is that these sorts of dresses are more versatile so can be worn again at a variety of special and formal occasions.

Our top pick from this collection is the One Shoulder Maxi Dress from Kaliko. The eye-popping red along with the intricate twisted detailing around the waist makes this a real show-stopping dress. The one-shoulder style is flattering and a great compromise between strapped and strapless dresses. It is floor length, but the fitted waist and fold detailing give it a feminine shape.

This group of colors – jades, sapphires, emeralds, rubies and amethysts – is not only one of the most popular it is also the most flattering. The deep, rich colorings perfectly complement the lightness of the wedding dress and the slightly darker shading means these colors work well on any body shape.

There are lots of dresses from this range that we completely adore, but our absolute favorite has to be the Wrap Front Prom Dress from Linea. This classic knee-length dress with v-neck, wide shoulder straps, bow-tied waist and full skirt in midnight blue will add definition and depth to the wedding dress and work as a versatile dress for the bridesmaids to use at other special occasions.

It used to be frowned upon if the any woman, other than the bride, wore white to a wedding, but these days white is being used more frequently to match the look of the wedding dress. Adding some contrast with black and grey gives a dramatic, striking look that’s understated and effortless.

Our top pick from the monochrome collection is the One Shoulder Flower Dress from Untold. This knee-length dress in dark grey is made from slinky silk. The one-should strap is detailed with corsages that fan down across the body to the waistline. Along with this asymmetric pattern, soft ruching, a nipped in waist and loose skirt make it stylish, flattering and modern.
